Then they became dead weight in the bag until the end of the tour. A pair of basic sandals with a good pair of socks did the job brilliantly. It dry in a few minutes after rain.
The only down side is on the social level, when you interact with people. It looks cheap and ugly. Maybe this coming summer, I will try a pair of sandals for bike touring though!
